Wet Season

The much awaited rainy season finally came. After two months, i think, of no rain… the skies are now giving more than what I expect to see. Correct me if I’m wrong, but rains should come during the months of June/July. But because of El Nino, the two past months had been totally dry. The authority resorted to cloud seeding attempting to supply the needed water in the greater part of the country.  Soon, we will see the water-supply-cut-off scare disappear, that is if the rains will continue. Two days of continuous rain (that is as of today) is not enough to have the dam’s water level to be stable, we’ll see in the coming days…

This is a good thing for the water supply but not for me. See, I’m a commuter. As much as I wanted the classes to be canceled during days of heavy rain, the university isn’t really that lenient when it comes to suspension of classes. Worse, students are already in school before they announce the cancellation. Another thing is, my laboratory class already started dissecting cats. My partner and I alternately bring the cat home. It will surely be hard for us to carry that long cat-bag in the rain. More than being cautious of the formalin from the cat leaking, we have to make sure it wont get wet. Everyday, I have to pass one of the most frequently flooded roads in Metro Manila (Espana). I just hope I won’t be walking along a knee-high-flooded-with-yucky-murky-garbage-infested-water.

that’s it for now…

:D

It has been long since my last post, but that does not imply that I am busy with school. I do actually had to put on entry last week, but thanks for being myself again, I opted to just sleep on my blog post. This did happen not just on my blog but also on some of my school requirements.

Being like this, I mean being lazy at times,  is a normal thing especially for those who go to school. I am not saying that it is right but rather just pointing out my observations (or am I just justifying my actions?). Students would usually get bored when the things that they have been doing seem monotonous. even though not all activities involve school, once things get to be kind of habitual, the attention would find its new focus. I am not sure if this is true for all, but in my case it is. Oh wait… if things aren’t really what one enjoys, those that I have said is true for him/her. But for those who do things as a habit because they truly love it and not just out of obligation and responsibility, then those won’t apply.

There are things which i really love doing (not that I am good at it, I seriously suck…), and  those things manage to be slipped in my schedule no matter how busy I am with school (which should be my priority). Mind you, blogging isn’t one of those, but writing is. As I said earlier i suck at this. I don’t mind if what I put on paper does not mean anything, as long as I write something.  Every time I get to feel the urge to write, though I am in a middle of something really important (say, reviewing for the next-period-exam), I would stop, get any piece of paper and start to write. Sometimes, i feel guilty when I do this and stop after slightly satisfying my need to jot down the things running through my mind. i also know that if I don’t do it, reviewing (say, it is the case) would be of no use since my focus will be on to something else. I cannot say that it is just a ‘breather’ for me because the reason for doing it is not just to relieve myself of the stress that I am feeling.

If only everything that i put on paper can go directly to my blog, I think this will be updated more than twice a day. i don’t bring my laptop to school everyday and I am more comfortable using a pencil and paper rather typing. Just like this entry, I planned to put this on my blog but wasn’t sure if I will get to really post it online. And since you’ve been reading this it means that I did post it. :) Hehehehe…

~smile always…

Yabang Pinoy

I chanced upon this site just now and got really struck by it. It basically promotes being a Filipino. They have a number of activities in which people could join to help boost Filipino pride.

From the YabangPinoy site:

“Yabang Pinoy” is a campaign to raise awareness and heighten Filipino people’s ethos, dignity and pride by advocating the use of a piece of braided abaca band that aims to make a statement. The abaca band aims to signify a Filipino being truly proud to be one.

The band will use the natural fiber abaca. Abaca belongs to the family of Musacea which is indigenous to the Philippines. It is important to note that the Philippines is the largest source of abaca fiber. Abaca is commonly known as the Manila hemp worldwide. It is also considered as the strongest natural fiber. Abaca used to be one of our top exports together with sugar and tobacco.

Since abaca is the strongest natural fiber and unique to the Philippines, it aims to constantly remind Filipinos that we are tough, resilient and exceptional.

Some of their activities/contests are: Aking Pahayag, Likhang Pinoy, Gapos Lahi, and Guhit Pinoy.

Go to their site and download the logo, post the link up your site to spread the word…

Yabang Pinoy! Ipag-yabang na ikaw ay Pilipino!

Rain-ing no more??

I am a fan-in-denial of Jung Ji Hoon, aka Rain. I have seen two of his tv dramas and his latest movie. I try my best not to talk about him if front of my friends, but of course, i fail miserably at that. I tend to lessen being a fan of someone once he/she gains popularity, I like to stick to those ‘underdogs’ (<<<<is that even the right word?? i’m sorry ^_^).

Well, anyway, I am the kind who gets always charged up, up to the extent of being frantic, when it comes to his performances. In my opinion, he really is a good performer, more than a dancer and a ‘singer’. I think he started a trend in Korean-pop, when in comes to stage presentation. All those ab-flaunting-with-dangerously-low-pants-combined and a bit of nipple-peek-a-boo, paid off especially if we’re talking about acquiring a big number of fans–female at that. But still, when someone asks me whether I am a fan or not, I always say…no(sorry…).

Lately, I’ve read that he canceled his US tour because of some legality issues. Now, I am not sure of what really it is about, so others should do their own research regarding this matter ;D. It’s not that I am really affected since I’m not from the US, nor am I BIG fan to be really concerned about that. But later then I found out that he changed his managing company (or whatever is that called) from being with JYP to StarM currently. Others may think that his ‘split’ with JYP is a bit of a wrong decision since many of their plans got canceled. JYP is kind of known for trying to make Asian(Korean) artists known in the main stream music industry in the US. Well, I do think that it may be a factor, since JYP is already US-based(i think), and it would be easier for him to get Rain perform there, and eventually land him a career in that foreign land. But would JYP’s presence in Rain’s career would guarantee his success in US? That, I don’t know. Another thing I’ve read is–for an artist to be well-known all over the world, according to JYP, he/she has to be either 1) an American who can speak Chinese (2) Chinese who can speak English or (3) Korean who can speak both English and Chinese (i read this from popseoul, i think) aside from one’s talents. Language is an important thing, yes. But to rely on that for one’s popularity, I think it’s kind of eerrrr. Though Rain isn’t fluent in English, nor is he in Chinese (all of what I’m saying is based on my observations, okay?) I bet his talents are enough for him to get the approvals of other nations. Yes, it will be hard to attain the spot like those of other American artists. But as of now, he proved that it is possible, since he have already gone a long way from being a Korean idol. I don’t think all of his current fans do understand Korean, but just seeing him perform is enough for them to have his face stuck on their computer wallpaper if not on their walls, hear “Rain’s coming now, from the…” 24 hours a day, and sign-up in every Rain fansite they see. In my opinion, his fan-bases in other countries are growing, even at a slow pace.

Rain-ing no more? I don’t think so, let’s just wait a bit, and it will be pouring soon…

Again, I’m not a fan…. ;)

‘Death Note’ character test

saw this in constantina’s livejournal, so i tried it….

Your Score: INFP

You scored 80% introversion, 57% intuition, 28% thinking, and 28% judging!

ABOUT THE TEST

This personality test is heavily based on the Kiersey Sorter. In essence, it measures your personality across four variables: Introversion-Extraversion, Intuition-Sensing, Thinking-Feeling and Judging-Percieving. There are both positive and negative attributes to each of the traits.

Introversion-Extraversion: Generally, people who score high on “introversion” are reserved, quiet people who keep to themselves whereas people who score low on “introversion” are outgoing, friendly people who are extraverts.
Intuition-Sensing:
People who score high on “intuition” are guided by gut instinct, they go on intuition as opposed to people who score low on this trait, who prefer to rely on established fact and their senses, rather than their own belief.
Thinking-Feeling: People with high scores on “thinking” rely more on their head to make decisions, whereas people who score low on “thinking” rely more on their heart to guide them. (Note: this has no bearing on a person’s intelligence level; it merely refers to the way in which they make desicions.)
Judging-Percieving: People who score high “judging” are firm, decisisive people, whereas people who score low on this trait are flexible, accomodating people.

a long post

I put the post title even before I could think of a topic to write about so I’m not sure if that would really manifest in my post.

This past week had been really long for me. After of almost a year of not taking any major subjects in school, in seemed to be hard for me to get back into really serious studying. It would take me a great deal of effort to really put my focus into my lessons since my past subjects did not require me to rivet my attention to really concentrating. In other words, my brain took a long break, a vacation maybe… but at least I could say that I’m putting a lot of effort now to get myself back in place. Well not really in place since I’ve already lagged a year in my studies. Yes, it does bother me, but what can i do? I have to face the consequences of my decisions. For those who really know me, I think they understand what I’m feeling right now regarding my academic standing. It is in my personality to be a bit pessimistic particularly when it comes to school matters. And to extend my college-stay a year more is a bit off for me. But, really, there’s no more room for sour graping on those things… **now, i have to put that in mind**

This coming week will be a busy one for me also since examinations are starting to fill my schedule. There are more things to memorize, oops, understand I mean. Hehe, that’s how teachers would put it right? “Don’t memorize, understand…”

Now, onto other topics…

I remember Mama asking me the other night what does “ngarag” means. I don’t usually use that word, but I often hear that from others. I think my sister, Ate Cyv, sent a text message to Mama that night telling her that she would be home at a certain time, then put in that word. Mama even had my younger sister read the message since she does not really recognize it. So I guess “ngarag” is one of the newly invented words by the present generation :D . So what does “ngarag” really means. At first I wasn’t able to answer Mama. Though, one understands a word well, it doesn’t mean that it would be easy to explain its meaning. It took me a few minutes before I could put it into graspable definition. And what I told Mama, was the best that I can think of — ‘pagod na pagod, stressed…’. I am really sorry for that, hahaha! A cannot think of anything to really describe the feeling of ngaragness…

Oh! Here’s another story… My niece — well, not really my neice, but my cousin’s daughter — ate dinner at our house the other night. She started telling us that they (with her mom and sister, i think) saw a celebrity at a gasoline station. We asked her who did they spot. The name she recalled was Brian. I cannot think of any celebrity by name of Brian, so I assumed that he was a child star or something since my niece is just 6y/o. Because we didn’t recognize the name, we asked her from which tv commercials did the guy appeared on. So, she told us some tv ads, but nothing really gave us a clue who that person was. We made her go back to their house (since it’s just next door) to ask who it really was. Curiosity was really driving us mad. Even though she still haven’t finshed her meal yet, we forced her to go home and ask her mom. When she got back, she told us that, that guy was the boyfriend another celebrity, Julie anne… All of us started laughing really hard because it was just then that we understood who it was… It was Ryan Agoncillo, Judy-ann Santos’ boyfriend… HAHAHA!!!

That’s it for now…

:)
